Little Bit of Everything Pt 1

I have about ten little somethings I've been working on for a little while now so I thought I would just post a new one everyday until I run out.  Some of them I forgot to do before pictures but hopefully you will get the idea.

Todays little project is a few canvases I have made sporadically, the first two are just little flowers I made to go in my dorm room back in the day and its an easy way to add a little color for just a few bucks.

The last project I just made a few days ago after seeing a quote on a piece of scrapbooking paper that I thought was humorous by John Lennon.  My "aunt Jill" helped me out big time by die cutting the little letters out for me and the rest I just kind of pieced together.

I  think it turned out pretty cute except its hard to read the letters.

So I added background pieces to give the letter more contrast. I couldnt get the lighting right to make all the sparkles show but I hope you enjoy. Leave me a comment and tell me what you think! :)

Re-purposed Bar Stools

So I had a pair of used barstools donated to my new house by the Parents Fund ;)  and they had a really great look that fit perfectly except the colors were all wrong. (red and white in a very green blues yellows kind of house)
So in an effort to be thrifty and as the excuse to use this fabric I've been dying to find an excuse for I decided to recover and repaint.

I found this fabric a few months ago in the clearance section at Joann's and the last time I went home I finally bought some for $3/Yard!! It is extra durable great for a seat thats going to get alot of use.  For the first step, I pulled off the old fabric using the backside of my hammer on the staples (not fun at all) and then I used the old fabric as a template for my new.

I then used the staple gun to put on my new fabric.  Only major advice for this step is dont tackle one side all at once if you are using a fabric with a design. I messed up the first cushion and had to redo it because the triangle was off center.  So put a staple in each side, continue to alternate, and keep checking the other side.

I thought the fabric turned out great, but I just wasn't loving how the white fought with the tan of the fabric so I decided to repaint as well with some blue paint I already had that was almost a perfect match.

Halfway through I decided I probably should have been less impatient and sanded because the paint wasn't sticking very well (Skyy  ^ agreed), but patience isn't in my nature so I forged ahead and decided I would just do two coats and hope for the best.

In the end I think they turned out really well, in a perfect world I would have had flat paint in a more exact blue but for two new barstools at about four dollars total they look awesome!

Candle and Little Shelf

I was raiding my mom's craft closet and stumbled upon a little block I basically talked her into buying at a crafts fair a few months back which I loved, and she offered it to me so I graciously took it off her hands :)
It needed something to go with it so I found a little shelf and a plain candle which I decided to dress up.
I would for sure recommend hot gluing the dragonflies instead of just sticking them in, but only a dab.

after i spaced out the dragonflies I added a green ribbon
And Viola! a cute decorative candle and shelf
