First we had my dad cut a piece of MDF board to the correct dimensions for a twin bead and to drill holes for the angle iron legs to be attached.
Next we took a large piece of quilt batting, doubled it over itself, and used a staple gun to staple it around each side on the back leaving a space on each side so we could get back underneath to tighten the bolts.
Then we used what happened to be a curtain! as our covering fabric. Apparently there was no purple fabric to be found, but the curtain worked perfectly fine. We just repeated the process of wrapping it and using the staple gun to attach it to the back leaving a space on each side undone.
This next part is where progress pictures would have come in handy but the reason we had to leave a space undone was because we had to keep the legs off to wrap the fabric completely around the bottom but this posed a problem for tightening the bolts on the front side of the board, hence the open space on each side.
Because the angle iron was required to attach the headboard to the bed frame. Once we had the angle iron tightened on and we finished stapling the fabric and you're halfway done!
Next we used two accent colored ribbons in a criss-crossed pattern spaced so that you could put a picture in between them like a memo board if you wanted (so cute!). Everytime the ribbons cross you put a staple through them and the fabric for the textured look.
Finally we used a hot glue gun to attach an eclectic assortment of buttons at each cross point to hide the staple and a touch of extra color and texture.
This is the finished product all decorated and it turned out PERFECT! The girl loved her whole room and my mom did an amazing job of picking all the decorative accents.
